Why seasons matter
Seasons are the reason the world looks different every time you open it. They are also the only thing in the game that changes your garden without asking you first, which makes them the clearest argument for a greenhouse and the reason a winter evening indoors by the hearth feels like the right thing to do.
How to unlock or use it
Nothing to unlock - the cycle runs for everyone on the same wall clock, so every player sees the same season at the same moment. Each season lasts about 150 minutes, and the world cross-fades rather than snapping between them.
Key facts
Season length
About 150 minutes each, so a full year passes in roughly 10 hours of real time.
Everyone shares one season
The season is computed from the clock, not from your save, so a friend visiting your garden sees the same snow you do.
Growth changes outdoors
Spring is 15% faster outdoors; Summer is the baseline growth rate; Autumn is 20% slower outdoors; Winter is 80% slower outdoors.
The greenhouse ignores all of it
A warm greenhouse grows at full speed in every season. Winter is when the furnace earns its firewood.
Weather on top
Rain, fog and wind run independently of the season, and rain waters what is planted outside.
Examples from Bravenbloom
๐ธ Spring
Blossoms drift on a gentle breeze. Outdoors: 15% faster outdoors.
โ๏ธ Summer
Warm pollen and fireflies float in the haze. Outdoors: the baseline growth rate.
๐ Autumn
Leaves tumble down in amber and gold. Outdoors: 20% slower outdoors.
โ๏ธ Winter
Snow settles โ keep the greenhouse warm. Outdoors: 80% slower outdoors.
Player tips
- Light the greenhouse furnace before winter arrives, not after you notice nothing is growing.
- Spring is the cheapest time to grow the slow, expensive species outdoors.
- Let rain do your watering. If it is coming down outside, the beds are already handled.
- Winter is the season to spend indoors - decorating, cooking at the hearth and visiting friends cost nothing while the ground sleeps.
